I created a worksheet which allows students to visually distinguish the differences between articulations.
1. Regular (unaccented)
2. Accented
3. Marcato
4. Staccato
5. Tenuto
Note that each articulated note begins at the same time (they are vertically aligned). Each note differs by its enunciation (not attack) and the amount of space between the notes. I find that I can stimulate more critical thinking by having the students distinguish the differences in order to correctly identify the articulation.
Use this chorale based on "Great is Thy Faithfulness" for intonation, phrasing, and expressive playing exercises. Each part is provided with SATB parts with ranges suited for most players.
